Quarantined dog released to owner | abc11.com

This is just as hard-nosed (and ignorant) animal control can be when it comes to the duration of immunity of rabies vaccine.

A family dog merely in proximity to a rabid raccoon was ordered quarantined for six months. His rabies vaccination was overdue by 46 days.

For the 999th time, rabies licenses lapse; immunity is a minimum of three years and most likely for life.

After serving four months of quarantine, thanks to an assertive owner and a sympathetic judge, the little dog can live out the remainder of his quarantine at home.

Be forewarned: this happy ending is quite atypical.
