Arkansas Approves 3 Year Rabies Interval

Pet owners in Arkansas rejoice.

The Arkansas House (91-5) and Senate (35-0) passed a new rabies law authorizing the State Health Department to establish rabies vaccination schedules which extend the interval between rabies booster shots to three years for Arkansas dogs and cats.

There is no information available at this time as to how this will affect local rabies prevention and control laws which generally prevail. Nevertheless, it is a step in the right direction.
